Week of Bratislava fog

Pripomína mi to jednu poviedku od Borisa Viana – kde hrala dôležitú úlohu hustá hmla a hlavná postava príbehu cítila potrebu experimentovať. Povyzliekal sa do naha a vyšiel slobodne do ulíc mesta. Aké bolo jeho prekvapenie, keď vonku narážal do iných ľudí – takisto vyzlečených do naha... Čas, keď sa originalita premieňa na uniformitu. Čo mi to len pripomína?
What’s going on at the beginning of winter? The week of Bratislava’s fog! Sun has not appeared in the sky for so many days. People are walking next to each other anonymously, they don’t need to smile on purpose – because they’re hidden, almost invisible in that fog.
It reminds me one story written by Boris Vian – where the thick fog was very important element and the main protagonist felt the need to experiment. He put off all his clothes and went out completelly naked for a city-walk. How was he surprised when he met other people outside – also with no clothes on... It was the time, when the originality is changing to the uniformity. What does this remind me?

Na prelome novembra a decembra som si pozrela niekoľko snímok z ponuky festivalu dokumentárnych filmov o ľudskoprávnej problematike Jeden svet. Väčšina dokumentov sa zaoberala nedodržiavaním ľudských práv a diskrimináciou – či už na základe politického presvedčenia, pohlavia/rodu, sexuálnej orientácie alebo rasového pôvodu. Akoby farba pleti o niečo dôležitom vypovedala. Akoby farba očí, vlasov či šiat o niečom vypovedala...
At the end of november and at the beginning of december I saw some movies from the program of documentary film-festival about human rights topic – One world. The most of the documentaries were focused on the non-application of human rights and on discrimination – based on political belief, sex/gender, sexual orientation or rase origin. Does this mean that the colour of skin can tell us something important? Does this mean that the colour of eyes, hair or clothes can tell us more about the person?

When I was in London, I was little bit upset – that I am not interesting for the citizens (no more, no less than other people). Girls didn’t check my colorfull fashion creations from the fast-food window. They didn’t comment the length of my red hair. Lots of different people passed through that big city everyday, so the expression – to be unique means something else. This multicultural mixture doesn’t surprise anybody there. People can coexist next to the others very well. The famous movie-director Terry Gillian said about London one “compliment” – from the least likely cities in the world London is the best.

The power of colours are growing up to the public in very slow tempo. Our citizens are understanding and accepting hard the migration and integration of foreign peple in Slovakia. Also happy colours are appearing in their wardrobes sporadically. But it seems that this winter it will be better, so I am curious about that.
It is the best to put on wellingtons during the time, whene there is not snowing outside yet. You can buy wellies for ten or fifteen euros anywhere – in your favourite colour and shape (what is the best for the rest of your outfit: especially the bag or scarf). Very visible green coat whith double-row stiching (from second hand as usual) is one of my favourite pieces of clothing. We used to shout in kindergarden very strange expression: „Green and blue combination is the best for loco.“ If this is true, then I am probably the loco. But I don’t feel the shame. In green-blue combination I can’t see anything wrong.

Mám to spočítané!
What I like the most in my loved city on the Danube river is that attention of unknown people on the streets. I counted it! Nine from ten people turned/twisted back just because of my outfit. But it is the pity that they are not able to give you back offered smile, which I usually send to them. The most of them are moving through the city very mechanically, they are thinking about something completelly else. They are running from their work on the way: Christmas market, supermarket and home. During that replacement they are just planning about what to buy for the rest of family, how to prepare Christmas dinner etc.
Lately I completed my green-blue outfit with unusual retro-glasses. I bought them in Bucharest during open-air vintage market. The world looks more beautiful through these glasses. Maybe that blue-violet filter can penetrate that fog and I am able to see more than the others. Maybe it is good, maybe not. But that astonishment from my face hasn’t vanished yet..
